UK-based journalist Mohammad A Munim Jahedi Karol officially receives “Expatriate Honor-2025”

 

Sylhet, December 27 — UK-based poet, journalist and social organizer Mohammad Abdul Munim Jahedi Karol has officially been awarded the “Expatriate Honor-2025” in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the welfare and rights of the Bangladeshi community in the United Kingdom, as well as his humanitarian initiatives and role in socio-economic development at home and abroad.

The honor was formally received on his behalf by poet and writer Bayjid Mahmud Faisal, publisher of Pandulipi Publications, at a special ceremony organized by the Sylhet District Administration on Saturday. The event took place at Sylhet’s Kabi Nazrul Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam.

Senior officials, dignitaries and prominent personalities of Sylhet attended the district’s first-ever Expatriate Honor ceremony. Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Masud Rana had officially informed Carroll about the recognition.

The day-long program was celebrated in a festive atmosphere with the participation of expatriates from Sylhet district residing in various countries around the world. Activities included a colorful rally from Queen Bridge at 10 a.m., the “Successful Expatriate Honors” ceremony at 11 a.m., and an evening seminar titled “Role of Expatriates in Local Development” held at Sylhet Circuit House.

Brief Profile of Mohammad Abdul Munim Jahedi Karol

Born in 1966 in Hilalpur village of Golapganj upazila in Sylhet, Karol  is the son of the late Abdur Rahim and the late Rezia Khanam. He moved to London with his parents in January 1985 and has since been actively engaged in social welfare, community organizing and humanitarian initiatives.

A familiar face in the London Bangla media, he is known for his involvement in education, culture, sports and community journalism. He is a member of the London Bangla Press Club and has previously received the Civic Award from Tower Hamlets Council as well as the Journalist Award from the online portal The Sunrise Today.

Karol is associated with numerous social, charitable and religious organizations, including:
