Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar has strongly warned that any national election held without structural reforms will be unacceptable and may give rise to another fascist regime in the country.
“Going to elections without reform will not bring national salvation—it will only give birth to another form of fascism,” he said while addressing a Rokon Education Camp organized by Jessore district Jamaat on Saturday morning at the district Shilpakala Academy.
Porwar emphasized that the need for national unity rooted in the spirit of the historic July uprising, urging the people to come together for a free, fair, and impartial election process.
“We must move forward with a collective vision to achieve a reformed and representative political system,” he said.
Criticizing the failure to establish a proper state structure even after five decades of independence, he remarked, “For the sake of the nation, we can no longer ignore the urgent need for systemic change.”
He also cautioned against divisive political tactics, saying, “Bringing forward resolved issues to divide the nation is a conspiracy that must be defeated in the upcoming election.”
The event was chaired by Jessore district Ameer Professor Golam Rasul, with Central Executive Committee member Maulana Azizur Rahman attending as special guest. Other district leaders including Maulana Habibur Rahman, Principal Abu Zafar, Golam Kuddus, Belal Hossain, Advocate Gazi Enamul Haque, and Professor Monirul Islam also spoke.
Senior Jamaat members (Rokons) from across the district participated in the programme.
