Ukraine carried out a second consecutive night of large-scale drone attacks on Russian territory, with Russia claiming to have shot down 184 drones, mostly over the Kursk and Belgorod regions, the Russian defence ministry said on Tuesday.
This follows one of Kyiv’s largest drone offensives on Monday, when Russia reported intercepting 251 drones in a single day.
The attacks have caused power outages and casualties in the targeted regions. Local authorities in Belgorod confirmed that two people were killed and around 1,000 residents remain without electricity due to the strikes.
Kyiv has increased its strikes deep inside Russian territory, especially targeting oil infrastructure, which it considers a legitimate response to Russia’s ongoing air assaults on Ukrainian cities and energy systems — attacks that have frequently left millions of Ukrainians without power or heating.
The back-and-forth strikes mark a continued escalation in the conflict, with both sides increasingly targeting critical infrastructure far from the front lines.
