24 electric detonators recovered along Sunamganj border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-28) recovered 24 powerful electric detonators from Tahirpur border area in Sunamganj district on Friday morning.

According to sources, a team of BGB officials from Charagaon Border Outpost conducted a drive near the border pillar 1195/1-S at Maizhati, 30 yards off India border around 8 AM and recovered 24 electric detonators wrapped in polythene and tactfully concealed under tree branches.

Sunamganj BGB-28 Battalion commander Lt Col AKM Zakaria Kadir confirmed the recovery and suspects that explosives were smuggled from India with malicious intent to destabilise the country.

He also said that detonators were highly powerful and could be used to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and assured legal action regarding this incident will be taken.
