Pinki Saha takes over as Sylhet DC Sarwar Alam transferred

Additional Deputy Magistrate Pinki Saha has taken over as the acting Deputy Commissioner (DC) following the transfer of Sylhet DC Md Sarwar Alam.

Sarwar Alam formally handed over his responsibilities on Monday evening, just a day after the Ministry of Public Administration issued an order transferring him. He is scheduled to leave Sylhet on Tuesday.

Until a new Deputy Commissioner is appointed, Pinki Saha will serve as the acting DC and oversee the district’s administrative activities.

Confirming the development to the media, Pinki Saha said she assumed the responsibilities at around 5:00pm on Monday.

“On Monday around 5:00pm, outgoing Sylhet DC Md Sarwar Alam handed over his responsibilities to me. I will be performing routine duties as acting DC for now. I seek everyone’s cooperation,” she said.

According to the district administration, Pinki Saha will carry out regular administrative functions to ensure the uninterrupted operation of government services and district-level activities during the interim period.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification transferring Sylhet DC Md Sarwar Alam and appointing him as a Deputy Secretary (attached) to the ministry. Following the transfer order, he began the process of handing over official duties and preparing to leave his post in Sylhet.

The appointment of Pinki Saha as acting Deputy Commissioner is expected to ensure continuity in administrative operations until the government announces a permanent replacement for the Sylhet DC position.
