If you’re spending a weekend in Bristol with the family, there is plenty to keep both children and adults entertained. From quirky immersive experiences to unusual attractions and spectacular views, the city offers a great mix of things to do. Bangla Mirror tried three family-friendly experiences- each offering something completely different.
Wake The Tiger is the kind of place that gets children excited from the moment they walk through the door. This colourful, immersive attraction in Bristol is packed with strange rooms, interactive installations, puzzles and plenty of surprises. Children can explore and discover things at their own pace, while parents will enjoy the creativity and imagination that has gone into every space. It is particularly good for families who like experiences rather than traditional museums or rides. Allow around two hours to explore properly. Some areas are dark and there are flashing lights and sound effects, so it may not suit every child. Overall, it is a wonderfully quirky family adventure with plenty to talk about afterwards and the perfect escape from heat waves with full on AC! https://bristol.wakethetiger.com

The Upside Down House at Bristol’s Harbourside is guaranteed to make children laugh. As the name suggests, everything inside appears to be completely upside down, with furniture and household objects fixed to the ceiling. The real fun is posing for photographs and getting creative with the angles, handy if you have an iphone with children looking as though they are walking on the ceiling or climbing the walls. It is located right next to We The Curious and the Harbourside, making it an easy addition to a family day out in central Bristol. The visit itself can be fairly short, around 20 minutes, but younger children in particular will love the novelty and silliness of it.www.upsidedownhouse.co.uk

Giant’s Cave in the Avon Gorge
Giant’s Cave is a lovely little adventure for families visiting Bristol’s Clifton area. Hidden into the Avon Gorge beside Clifton Observatory, the cave has a fascinating connection to the local legend of the giant Goram. Children will enjoy the feeling of discovering a real cave tucked into the dramatic hillside, while adults can appreciate the history and spectacular views across the gorge. It is fun to walk down the inside of the cave to get to the view and it works best as part of a wider family day around Clifton. We walked across Clifton Suspension Bridge, then finished with an ice cream from a local café and a sit-down on the benches to take in the spectacular views – a perfect way to round off the day. https://cliftonobservatory.com
