Mercedes-Benz car seized in Sylhet

Customs Intelligence has seized a Mercedes-Benz car worth Tk5 crore from Sylhet.

The car was seized from the possession of London expatriate Abdul Malek after a 36-hour search drive on Saturday midnight.

The car was missing since Friday night. An alert was also announced in Sylhet to find the car.

Moinul Khan, director general of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, said: “The highly expensive car was brought in 2012 under carnet facility without paying customs duty. He was plying it without registration.”

He said: “The intelligence CI team went to seize the car on Friday morning from Abdul’s residence in Airport Road of Sylhet.

“The team conducted several raids in different areas. An announcement was also made with photos of that vehicle through the media to get any info about its location.”

Later, it was finally recovered car from Abdul’s possession on Saturday midnight.
