With the assistance of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), 140 more Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated.
They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 6:30 am, Thursday by a flight of Libyan private airline Buraq Air, said a foreign ministry press release.
It said a total of 113 individuals, who were affected by floods in Derna city in eastern Libya, and 27 Bangladeshis detained in Ganfuda (Benghazi) Detention Centre, are among the returnees. They were detained in Libya for entering the country illegally.
Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IOM welcomed the repatriated Bangladeshi citizens at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon landing at the country.
Each of them received Tk 5,919 as pocket money and some food items as gifts from the IOM.
So far, a total of 975 Bangladeshi nationals have been repatriated till July this year, and the rest of the Bangladeshis will be brought back to the country very soon, it added.
