114 more Myanmar border guards fled to Bangladesh

One hundred and fourteen more members of Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) and army personnel took shelter in Bangladesh on Tuesday morning amid ongoing conflict in their country.

With the new members, the number of Myanmar force, who have taken refuge in Bangladesh, rose to 229.

Shariful Islam, public relations officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said they have been disarmed and kept at Thaikhali cyclone centre.

He said some 106 members have entered in the country till Monday evening.

Meanwhile, fighting continued in Myanmar between the junta forces and rebel group Arakan Army, a Bangladeshi woman and a Rohingya man were killed on Monday when a mortar shell fired from Myanmar exploded in Bandarban’s Ghumdhum union on Monday.
