One more arrested, drive for BNP leader continues

Another man has been arrested over the murder of Deepto TV broadcast engineer Tanjil Jahan Tamim.

The arrested is Russel. He was arrested from Dhaka at about 5AM on Saturday.

Confirming the arrest, Tejgaon divisional deputy police commissioner Md Ruhul Kabir said,”Russell was identified after scrutinising CCTV footage from the scene. He directly involved in the murder.

Earlier, Md Abdul Latif, Md Kurban Ali, Mahin, Mojammel Haque Kabir and Badhon were arrested in connection with the murder.

Tanjil Jahan Tamim, 32, was allegedly beaten to death on Thursday (October 10) by several staff members of Pleasant Properties Ltd, a property developer, following a dispute over the handover of apartments in the Mahanagar Project in Rampura.

Police are continuing drives to arrest Shaikh Rabiul Alam Rabi, managing director of Pleasant Properties Ltd and an executive committee member of BNP.

Meanwhile, BNP served a show-cause notice to Rabiul for his involvement in the attack. The party demanded an explanation from Rabiul over allegations of breaching party discipline and involvement in unethical activities.
