Third group of 30 Bangladeshis repatriated from Tehran amid regional tensions

A third group of 30 Bangladeshi nationals has returned home from Tehran amid ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.

The group arrived in Dhaka early Monday morning on an Air Arabia flight and landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This repatriation follows two earlier phases. On July 1, the first group of 28 Bangladeshis returned home. They had departed Tehran by road on June 25, traveling through the Taftan border into Balochistan, Pakistan, before reaching Dhaka via Karachi and Dubai. Most members of this group were women, children, and patients who had gone to Iran for medical treatment.

The second batch, consisting of 32 Bangladeshis, returned on July 8. With Monday’s return of the third group, a total of 90 Bangladeshis have now been repatriated from Iran, effectively concluding the current phase of the evacuation process.

Officials have confirmed that around 250 Bangladeshis had registered with the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran seeking repatriation. Although approximately 2,000 Bangladeshis reside in Iran, 672 are formally registered, including 66 students. Of these, around 400 are based in Tehran.
