ICT appoints ZI Khan as state defense for Hasina, other fugitives

The International Crimes Tribunal has appointedSenior Supreme Court lawyerZI Khan Panna as the state defense for Sheikh Hasina and other fugitives in two enforced disappearance cases.

A two-member ICT-1, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, made the appointment on Sunday. The other member of the tribunal is Judge Md Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Earlier this morning, he went to the tribunal to represent Hasina in the cases.

He had previously expressed interest in representing her, including in August for a separate case related to human rights violations during the July 2023 unrest, but his earlier application was rejected.
