Govt declares Khaleda Zia a ‘VVIP’

The interim government has declared three-time former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, as Very Very Important Person (VVIP).

Planning Adviser Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud announced the decision at a press briefing after a meeting at the State Guest House Jamuna on Tuesday.

He said, “The meeting decided to declare Begum Khaleda Zia a Very Very Important Person (VVIP) of the State considering her current physical condition, her smooth treatment in the hospital, plans to take her abroad for advanced treatment if necessary, her security and travel facilities, and her high status.”

All relevant agencies have been directed to implement the decision immediately, he said, adding, Khaleda Zia’s family and her party have been informed of these decisions.

The meeting also offered prayers seeking the early recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia.
