PCB fines players PKR 5m each

The Pakistan Cricket Board has hammered its national players with a staggering Rs 5 million fine each following their dismal T20 World Cup campaign.

According to a report by Express Tribune, the decision was taken immediately after Pakistan’s crushing defeat to India, a loss that effectively derailed their tournament hopes.

PCB officials have reportedly delivered a blunt message — the era of indulgence is over. From now on, financial rewards will strictly mirror on-field performance.

The penalties come despite players earning hefty central contracts. Under the 2025–26 cycle, B-category cricketers pocket Rs 3 million monthly plus Rs 1.5525 million as ICC revenue share, while C and D categories earn Rs 1 million and Rs 750,000 respectively, alongside additional ICC shares.

Notably, no player was placed in the top A category for the July 2025 to June 2026 contract period.

Match fees remain separate.
