Dr Zubaida Rahman leaves for London

Dr Zubaida Rahman, spouse of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, departed Dhaka for London on Sunday morning to take part in a professional medical training programme, according to BNP sources.

Airport officials confirmed that she left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport aboard Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 201. The flight is expected to arrive at Heathrow Airport at 9:00 pm local time.

Dr Rahman, a cardiologist by profession, returned to Bangladesh last year after spending 17 years in London with her husband. During her time in the United Kingdom, she served at a hospital in London, continuing her medical career.

Her departure comes just a day after she joined the Prime Minister at an Eid greeting event held at the state guest house Jamuna. Later on Eid day, the couple visited Sher e Bangla Nagar, where they offered prayers at the graves of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
