
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has revised gold prices in the local market, reducing the price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold jewellery by Tk9,013 per bhori.
In a statement issued on Thursday morning, BAJUS said the new prices took effect from 10:00am on 18 June.
Under the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery, including VAT, has been fixed at Tk232,930 per bhori (11.664 grams).
Previously, on 15 June, the price of 22-carat gold was set at Tk230,422 per bhori excluding VAT. With the addition of 5 percent VAT, the retail price of gold jewellery stood at Tk241,943 per bhori. Compared with that price, the latest adjustment represents a decrease of Tk9,013 per bhori.
For the first time, BAJUS has announced gold prices inclusive of VAT. Until now, the association had traditionally fixed gold prices excluding VAT.
Earlier, on 13 June, BAJUS raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk6,590 per bhori, setting the rate at Tk224,940.
With the latest revision, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 76 times so far in 2026. Of these, prices have increased 40 times and decreased 36 times.
In 2025, gold prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases, highlighting the continued volatility of the precious metals market in Bangladesh.
