The first hajj flight with 415 pilgrims left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Saudi Arabia at around 3.20am on Sunday (May 21).
State Ministers for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali, Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haq Khan, Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Isa bin Yusuf Al Duhailan, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Mokammel Hossain, among others, were present at the airport to see off the pilgrims.
Flight BG-3001 took off from the airport at 3:20am and was scheduled to land in Jeddah at 7:20am (local time).
Besides, four more flights will leave Dhaka for Jeddah today.
This year, a total of 122,221 pilgrims from Bangladesh are going to perform the holy hajj.
The hajj is expected to be held on June 27 depending on the sighting of the moon.
