1st phase of 152 upazila polls on May 8

The first phase of 152 upazila elections will be held on May 8.

The Election Commission (EC) announced the date on Thursday after the meeting of the election commissioners.

The last date for submission of nomination paper pn April 15. The nomination papers will be scrutinised on April 17 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 22, said EC additional secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath.

The elections will be held through EVM in 22 upazilas, while on ballot papers in the rest upazilas.
