Ex-minister Golam Dastagir Gazi arrested from Dhaka

Former Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi was arrested from a house in the capital’s Shantinagar area early Sunday.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested him at about 3AM from a house of Dastagir’s relative.

Confirming the arrest news, Paltan Police Station OC Mollah Mohammad Khalid Hussain said Golam Dastagir Gazi, also the chairman of Gazi Group, went into hiding to escape arrest. A team of DB arrested him from his relative’s house at Shantinagar.

However, it is still unclear under which case he was arrested.

Dastagir is an accused in a Narayanganj murder case.
