Former commerce minister Tipu Munshi was arrested from the capital’s Gulshan area early Thursday over the killing of a worker in Rangpur during the Quota Reform Movement.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from a house in Gulshan-1 and later, shown him arrested in the murder case.
ANM Emran Khan, assistant director of the Legal and Media wing of RAB confirmed the arrested news.
Muslim Uddin Milon, 38, was shot dead during the recent student movement in Rangpur.
Dilruba Akter, wife of the deceased, filed the case on Tuesday (August 27) afternoon with a court in Rangpur against 17 individuals, including former speaker of parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Tipu Munshi.
The bank accounts of Tipu Munshi, his wife Malbika Munshi, and their daughters–Ananya Munshi and Trisha Munshi–were frozen on August 22. At the same time, the bank account transactions for their businesses were also suspended.
