BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for London, UK, on Saturday morning on a 10-day visit.
He is due to return to Dhaka on December 11.
He alongwith his wife Rahat Ara Begum departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 8:25AM, said BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
It is learnt that Mirza Fakhrul is going to London on political and party work. He will meet with BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman during his stay in London.
Once Mirza Fakhrul returns, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia may may go to London on 13 December 13 for medical treatment. Preparations are being made in this regard.
The 79-year-old former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is likely to first receive treatment in the UK, and may then travel to the United States for further care.
