Police verification will no longer be required for passport, said Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday.
“Why should police verification be necessary for a passport? A passport is one of my fundamental right as a citizen. Police will judge separately whether I am a thief or a dacoit. The birth certificate I received, was not issued through police verification.”
The Chief Adviser made the announcement during the inaugural speech of the three-day DC Conference at Shapla Hall in his office.
Prof Yunus urged deputy commissioners to provide this type of decision to the public.
“Passport is the identity of our citizens, why should police verification be needed here? Now we made a law, police verification will no longer be required for passport,” he added.
