Four prosecution witnesses testified on Sunday in three graft cases filed over alleged corruption in RAJUK plot allocations against ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Rehana’s daughter Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and several others.
The witnesses, Eastern Housing Ltd’s Executive General Manager Mohammad Farhaduzzaman, Assistant Executive Member Himel Chandra Das, Operator Sheikh Shamsher Ali and Housing Ministry Administrative Officer Akter Jahan gave their depositions before Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-4 Judge Md Rabiul Alam.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) prosecutor Khan Md Moinul Hasan Lipon confirmed the testimony, saying Eastern Housing officials also stated about Tulip Siddiq’s flat ownership in the company’s project. The court fixed October 6 for the next hearing.
On July 31, charges were framed in the cases and arrest warrants were issued as the accused remained absconding. Hasina, Rehana, Tulip, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, Azmira Siddiq and former senior housing officials are among those indicted in the separate cases filed by the ACC in January over irregular plot allocations.
