Ex-minister Kamrul on remand, ex-MP Solaiman shown arrested in murder case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former food minister Advocate Kamrul Islam on a five-day fresh remand in connection with the murder of jhoot trader Md Monir during last year’s anti-discrimination student protests at Shahbagh.

Meanwhile, former lawmaker Mohammad Solaiman Selim was also shown arrested in the case.

Monir was shot dead on August 5, 2023, while joining the protest at Chankharpul. His wife Rozina Akter, later, filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police Station on March 14 this year.
