Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices in the domestic market, increasing the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori.
As a result, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 224,940 per bhori.
BAJUS announced the decision in a press release issued on Sunday night, stating that the revised prices will come into effect from Monday (January 5).
According to the statement, the price hike was prompted by an increase in the cost of refined gold (pure gold) in the local market. Considering the overall market situation, BAJUS decided to adjust gold prices accordingly.
Previously, on January 1, BAJUS had reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,458 per bhori, setting the rate at Tk 222,724.
Under the revised pricing, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 214,734 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 184,058 per bhori and gold made under traditional method at Tk 153,323 per bhori.
This marks the second adjustment of gold prices in the country since the beginning of the year, with prices initially reduced before being raised again.
Last year, gold prices were revised 93 times, with increases recorded on 64 occasions and reductions on 29 occasions.
