3 more children die of measles; nationwide toll rises to 860

Three more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the 24 hours, raising nationwide death toll to 860.

During the same period, 1,218 children were infected with measles or exhibited symptoms of the disease, according to a regular report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday afternoon (August 7).

According to DGHS data, a total of 860 people have died of measles and measles symptoms in the country since March 15. Among them, 764 died with symptoms, while 96 died after testing positive for measles.

In addition, 1,33,638 people have shown symptoms of measles, and 16,740 cases have been officially confirmed since March 15.

During this timeframe, a total of 1,15,879 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country with measles and related symptoms. Of them, 1,11,857 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far.
