Bangladesh today beat visiting Zimbabwe by a big margin of 42 runs in the 2nd T20 of the four match T20 series at Khulna Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium.
Sabbir Rumman, who scored 93 off 30 during Bangladesh’s pile of 168 runs, was awarded man of the match.
Touring Zimbabwe have managed to score 125 runs by losing eight wickets in 20 overs after making a bright start.
Sabbir becomes the second Bangladeshi to score 40 runs and pick up three wickets. They had a good total on the board, but not a winning one just yet. A good show from their bowlers was needed and they got that.
Mustafizur seems to be having a problem with his left shoulder. He is clutching it, and trying to test it out. Tamim tells him to stop and asks him to go off the field. Bangladesh don’t want to take any chances with him.
Sabbir Rahman picked the wicket of Masakadza, Mutumbami and Creamer while Mustafizur removed PJ Moor and Mdziva. Mashrafe removed Sibanda. Shuvagata Hom sent SC Williams back to the pavilion at 2.
“I guess the bowlers did quite well to restrict Bangladesh. 167 was chaseable, but we didn’t do enough in the powerplay and then overs 6-10 was [disappointing] as well,” says Hamilton Masakadza,
Bangladesh earlier made 167 runs in 20 overs by losing 3 wickets.
Sabbir was unbeaten on 43 from 30 balls while Shakib was on 27 from 17. Both of them made full use of the loose deliveries on offer and didn’t allow any quiet overs when they were at the crease.
Stylish batsman Soumya Sarkar scored a brisk 43.
Mushfiqur Rahim retired hurt at the last delivery of 15th over and then Shakib Al Hasan joined Sabbir Rahman.
For Zimbabwe, Muzurabani, Masakadza and Cremer took a wicket each. Cremer and Vitori were quite economical in their spells as well.
