British Muslims are waving the flag of success

43Thousands of nominations have been received from the public for The British Muslim Awards presented by Al Rayan Bank, which is testament to breadth of talent and success, making it apparent that British Muslims across the nation are waving the flag of success.

Ibrahim Rahman, who lives in Cambridge, has been shortlisted in the Services to Media category.  Ibrahim will find out if he will be named the winner at the glamorous ceremony being held in Birmingham.

The 25-year-old journalist and filmmaker said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been shortlisted under this category at this year’s British Muslim Awards. I received the news when I was on my lunch break at work and it certainly took me by surprise! I am really looking forward to the ceremony and I hope it will be a wonderful occasion.”

The fourth annual awards aim to recognise a wide range of achievements, covering various aspects of society, including business, charity, sport, arts and culture and much more.
Over 400 people will attend the black tie ceremony, hosted by presenter Inayat Kanji, which takes place at the Holiday Inn Birmingham City, on Thursday 28th January.
The evening will be a celebration of success as well as reflecting upon the significant role of Britain’s Muslims in society.
Yasmin Mahmood, Director of event organisers Oceanic Consulting commented: “We are humbled and honoured by the support from the public who have voted in their thousands, resulting in an impressive list of finalists. The awards aim to celebrate individuals and companies that contribute in making a better Great Britain.
“The British Muslim Awards presented by Al Rayan Bank is an ideal platform for Muslims throughout the United Kingdom to showcase their accomplishments.”
There are twenty two awards to be presented on the evening and the full list of finalists can be found on the website.
The Awards will also help raise funds for the official charity partner, National Zakat Foundation. The charity is the premier Zakat institution for the UK Muslim community, serving Zakat payers and recipients nationwide. By providing a complete Zakat service within the UK, it aims to achieve its vision of a pious, confident, selfless and self-sufficient UK Muslim community, where no individual in need is left abandoned.
