UK JASOD observes Taher Dibosh: Posthumous trial demanded

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvThe UK JASOD had organised a meeting to commemorate 40th ‘Taher Dibosh’ on 27 July at the Montefiore Centre, East London.
Taher Dibosh is observed to remember the political activism of Col Abu Taher (Bir Uttom) who was hanged to death on 21 July 1976 following a military tribunal inside the Jail.

In 2011 the High Court overturned the judgement that authorised Col Taher’s execution by a military tribunal while the nation was under martial law. The military court judgement was declared illegal. The court also observed Col Taher’s execution had happened according to General Zia’s plan.

The meeting was chaired by Vice President Mujibul Haq Moni and conducted by General Secretary Syed Abul Monsur (Lilu). Chief guest was Central Committee’s Industry & Business Affairs Secretary Shameem Ahmed. Other guest speakers included NAP’s Md Abdul Aziz, BASOD’s Goyasur Rahman, Nirmul Committee’s Ansar Ahmed Ullah, JASOD’s Joint Gen Sec Md Shahjahan, Finance Sec Redwan Khan & Ruby Haq amongst others.

Speakers at the meeting demanded posthumous trial and punishment of former ruler Ziaur Rahman and all those involved in killing freedom fighter Col Abu Col Taher.

In addition in the current climate of increased Islamist militancy JASOD urged all pro-liberation forces to forge political alliance to drive out the evil forces of war criminals and militancy from Bangladesh’s soil forever.
