Sri Lanka has paid back $100 million in second installment of loan taken from Bangladesh two years ago.
Bangladesh lent $200 million from its foreign exchange reserves to Sri Lanka during its economic crisis in September 2021. The island nation paid back $50 million in the first installment of the loan repayment last month.
Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Mezbaul Haque on Friday said that Sri Lanka paid the second installment on Thursday. Now they are expected to return the remaining $50 million in due course.
He told the media that Bangladesh also got $2.8 million as interest from Sri Lanka over the loan.
