The country’s ruling party Awami League (AL) and opposition party BNP will go head-to-head with their programmes on the streets on Tuesday, the same day that the 12th Parliament’s first session is scheduled to start.
“Black Flag” processions will be held across the country by leaders and activists of the BNP, demanding the dissolution of the “dummy parliament” and new elections run by a non-partisan caretaker government.
On the other hand, the AL will hold peace processions and rally across the country, protesting BNP-Jamaat’s subversive activities against the government. They will carry the national flags to counter the BNP’s black flags.
However, the Dhaka city north unit of AL has already postponed the program in Dhaka city citing unavoidable reasons.
