Nahid urges Banglalink to introduce unlimited internet packages

Adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Nahid Islam has urged Banglalink representatives to introduce unlimited internet packages to meet public demand.

He made the request during a meeting with a delegation of Banglalink at the ministry’s office on Wednesday.

Nahid Islam, also the Adviser of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, emphasised the importance of reducing internet prices and encouraged all mobile operators to offer unlimited internet packages, considering the needs of the younger generation.

During the meeting, Kan Terzioğlu, CEO of Veon Limited, raised the issue of reducing SIM card taxes in Bangladesh.

In response, the adviser said that discussions with the Ministry of Finance would be necessary, as they are responsible for taxation.

Additionally, Banglalink’s Chief Legal Officer Zaharat Adib Chowdhury, highlighted various challenges in using the streaming application Toffee.

The adviser assured that the issue would be investigated. Terzioğlu also expressed interest in increasing investment in Bangladesh.

Banglalink’s CEO, Erik Aas, chief corporate and regulatory officer Taimur Rahman, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
