Ex-industries minister Nurul Majid sent to jail hours after arrest

A court in Narsingdi on Wednesday sent former industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun to jail in a case filed for killing a workers’ leader in Narsingdi on August 4 during quota protest.

Around 12:14PM, Narsingdi Judicial Magistrate Rakibul Islam passed the order rejecting five-day remand prayer of the plaintiff.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested Nurul Majid from Gulshan area in the capital early Wednesday (September 25).

Workers’ leader Jahagir Hossain was killed during an attack on the quota protesters on August 4. Later, the victim’s elder brother Amir Hossain filed the case with Madhabdi Police Station on August 9.

Following the case filed, Nurul Majid was arrested.
