Former civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon and also President of Bangladesh Workers Party, has been sent to jail in a case filed on charge of attacking BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas during an election campaign at Shegunbagicha in Dhaka in 2018.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanaullah passed the order on Wednesday after the investigating officer of the case produced him before the court after completing a three-day remand, and pleaded to keep him behind bars.
Meanwhile, on August 22, Menon was detained from Gulshan in Dhaka in a murder case.
According to the case statement, on December 15, 2018, a gang of miscreants equipped with sticks, rods, sharp weapons attacked Mirza Abbas and some BNP leaders during the election campaign at Segunbagicha, leaving them critically injured.
A case was filed with Sahbagh Police Station in this regard.
