Abu Sayeed, a student of the Department of English at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur (BRUR), has posthumously passed his final graduation exam for the 2019-2020 academic year with a CGPA of 3.30 out of 4.
He ranked 14th in the combined merit list, according to the results published on Sunday.
Abu Sayeed tragically lost his life in police firing during the anti-discrimination student-people movement in front of the university on July 16. His sacrifice sparked a nationwide movement that eventually led to the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5.
The announcement of his graduation results came from BRUR Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali, who expressed deep sorrow at Sayeed’s absence while acknowledging his academic achievement. “Although Abu Sayeed is no longer with us, we honor his legacy with the publication of his results today,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
The event was attended by key university figures, including the Acting Registrar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and other officials, who collectively expressed their condolences and paid tribute to Sayeed’s memory.
