BGB personnel found dead in Sylhet river

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered the body of a BGB member from a river at Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Masum Billah, a member of the BGB-48 battalion.

According to BGB, Masum drowned in the river while a BGB boat tried to stop and collided with an Indian boat carrying smuggled goods on Saturday at around 5 PM.

Later, locals and fire service divers searched all night and finally recovered his body near Aharkandi Ambari area after trying all day.

Gowainghat Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Sarkar Tofayel Ahmed confirmed the incident.
