Draft voter list published; corrections open until August 21

The Election Commission (EC) has released the draft of the updated voter list on Sunday, August 10. Citizens have been given 12 days to review their information and apply for corrections if necessary.

According to EC Director of Public Relations Md. Shariful Alam, the draft voter list has been displayed at the offices of Upazila and Thana Election Officers across the country. Residents can visit their respective local offices to check the list and submit applications for correction.

This year’s update includes approximately 4.4 million new voters, whose information has been added in the supplementary draft list.

With the publication of the supplementary list, eligible citizens can now submit applications to include names, remove names due to death or disqualification, request voter transfers, or correct any errors. These applications must be submitted using Forms 2, 12, 13, or 14 by August 21.

All submitted applications will be reviewed and resolved by the respective Upazila/Thana Election Officers and Registration Officers by August 24. After final procedures, the final voter list will be published on August 31.

Currently, the total number of registered voters in Bangladesh stands at 123,732,274.

The EC has also confirmed that individuals who turn 18 by October 31 will be eligible to be included in the voter list for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
