Warrant of Precedence: Top court once again to hear appeal on Nov 4

The Supreme Court’s Appellate Division has deferred the hearing on a petition regarding the state’s warrant of precedence – the official ranking of important constitutional and government positions.

The Appellate Division bench headed by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam on Thursday set November 4 following the review petitions challenging its judgment on the issue.

Barrister Salauddin Dolon and Adv Ahsanul Karim were present in the court for petitioner, while Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik represented the state.

Currently, the president and prime minister enjoy the first and the second positions respectively in the existing Warrant of Precedence, formulated in 1986 and revised in 2008.
