
A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by Indian Khasias near Dona border in Sylhet’s Kanaighat upazila on Sunday.
Shakil Ahmed, 25, son of Shamsul Haque from Madarpur village under Dona union, was reportedly cutting grass near pillar number 1334 when the attackers suddenly opened fire, leaving him critically injured.
Local residents rescued him, but he died en route to Kanaighat Upazila Health Complex, confirmed Md. Abdul Awal, Officer-in-Charge of Kanaighat Police Station.
Following the shooting, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Dona Camp verified the incident and increased patrols along the border.
Shakil’s body has been sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, while authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
