Illegal Indian onions and pickup truck seized in Sylhet

A special operation by the Airport Police Station of Sylhet has seized illegal Indian onions worth Tk 220,000 and a DI pickup truck. The police have arrested one person in this incident.

On Monday night (November 11), at around 2:50 am, SI Sheikh Md. Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of Amberkhana Police Outpost, conducted a drive in front of Khasdbir Jame Mosque at Khasdbir Point under the Airport Police Station.

A DI pickup truck was seized during the drive. After searching, 2,200 kg of illegal Indian onions were recovered from the pickup, with an estimated market value of Tk 220,000 (two lakh twenty thousand).

In this incident, the police have arrested a young man named Md. Shakil Uddin (22). He is the son of Kamal Uddin of Lafnaut village of Gowainghat upazila.

After the drive, a case has been filed under the Special Powers Act at the Airport Police Station in this regard.

The police said that the arrested accused will be handed over to the competent court as per the rules.
