Jamaat candidate Fazlul Haque loses candidacy

Jamaat-e-Islami candidate AKM Fazlul Haque has failed to get back his candidacy for the Chittagong-9 constituency as the Election Commission (EC) rejected his appeal, citing dual citizenship.

Now, he will not be able to contest the upcoming 13th parliamentary election.

The decision was taken following a hearing on his appeal at the Election Commission on Monday.

Fazlul Haque said he would now consider taking the matter to court.

Earlier on January 4, Returning Officer and Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Md Zia Uddin rejected the nomination paper of AKM Fazlul Haque for holding dual citizenship.
