Evaly’s Rassel, Shamima arrested again

Evaly e-commerce platform’s chairman, Shamima Nasrin, and chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammad Rassel have been arrested again.

Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them from the capital’s Dhanmondi area around midnight on Tuesday (January 20).

Confirming the matter, Dhanmondi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said they had been informed about the DB arrests.

According to the DB, more than 200 arrest warrants have been issued against Shamima Nasrin and Mohammad Rassel in cases filed with Dhanmondi, Kafrul and Savar police stations. Of these, over a hundred warrants are from Dhanmondi police station alone.

Earlier, on 16 September 2021, police arrested Rassel and Shamima from their residence in Mohammadpur on charges of fraud and embezzlement. Shamima was released on bail in April 2022, while Russell secured bail in December the same year.
