
Golam Sarwar Milon, former lawmaker for Manikganj-4 constituency and former Deputy Minister of Education, has passed away at his residence in the capital.
He was 69.
Family sources said that Milon breathed his last following a cardiac arrest in the early hours of Sunday (April 26). He was later taken to Popular Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead on arrival.
His first funeral prayer (Janaza) will be held after Zuhr prayers at the Singair High School ground in Manikganj, while the second Janaza will take place after Maghrib prayers at Kabiraj Jame Mosque on Nazimuddin Road in the capital.
He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and a large number of well-wishers.
Milon had been active in the country’s political arena for many years and held various important positions during his career.
He was the first elected president of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal during its 1981–82 term. Earlier in his political life, he was also associated with left-leaning student politics linked to the Bhasani-NAP-supported Jatiya Chhatra Dal.
