EC sets 31 October deadline for voter area changes

The deadline for submitting applications to change voter areas due to a change of residence is 31 October, as the Election Commission (EC) has set a schedule ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

EC officials disclosed the information on Saturday. The commission has already sent instructions to field-level officials to implement the schedule.

According to the instructions, the EC has set specific deadlines for receiving, processing and disposing of voter transfer applications submitted by people who have changed their residence ahead of elections to local government bodies.

The deadline for submitting applications to change voter areas is 31 October. Field-level officials must issue the applications by 3 November and complete the disposal of voter transfer applications by 5 November.
The commission has instructed field-level officials to take the necessary measures to process and settle the applications within the stipulated timeframe.

Union parishad elections are expected to begin in January.
