FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Bangladesh as a country with a deep passion for football, expressing his delight at visiting Dhaka during a brief transit stop.
In a video message shared by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), Infantino described Dhaka as beautiful and its people as passionate football fans.
“Hello everyone. I am really delighted to be here today in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is a beautiful country, but what is even more important to me is that it is a fantastic football-loving country. Everyone here loves football, loves the game,” he said.
Infantino also praised BFF President Tabith Awal and his team for their efforts to take Bangladeshi football to the next level.
He described Awal as a great friend and commended his work with the federation’s board and team.
The FIFA chief said the organisation would work with Bangladesh to develop football at different levels, including men’s and women’s football, youth programmes, school-based investment, infrastructure and training centres.
“These are the things we discussed, and we will work together to implement these wonderful projects for football in Bangladesh,” he said.
Infantino’s remarks highlighted FIFA’s potential role in supporting the development of football infrastructure and expanding opportunities for players across the country.
