BCL protests JCD strike at SUST

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST) yesterday protested 3-day long strike enforced by the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on the campus. In favour of strike JCD leaders and activists didn’t organise any procession and rally on the campus.

However, no class and examination were held at maximum department of the university due to countrywide hartal. University’s buses didn’t move from campus to city. The presences of the students were very thin on the campus during the strike.  It is mentionable that, SUST JCD

leaders enforced a 3-day long strike for their six-point demand.

On the other hand, the leaders and activists of SUST BCL observed sit in programme in front of the university’s main gate from 10am to 1pm. Terming the strike as illegal, BCL leaders urged the law enforcers to detain the JCD leaders who enforced the programme to create untoward situation. Among others of BCL leaders, Abdul Kadir Redwan, Mohibul Islam Misbah, Abdus Salam Monju, Asif Hosen Roni, Majharul Haque Pitul, Kamrul, Mostaq, Zakaria, Khalil.

Mentionable that, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Monday called a three-day strike in all educational institutions across the country from Tuesday ‘protesting the killing, enforced disappearance and arrest’ of its leaders and activists ‘by law enforcers’. JCD president Rajib Ahsan and general secretary Akramul Hasan announced the strike programme through a press release. The JCD leaders also said they will enforce the strike also to press home their demand for holding a fresh election under a non-party government dissolving the current parliament.
