New eye make-up trends this summer season

40As the sun sizzles, make eyes at the Sun Lord.
While at it, you can try out new eye make-up trends
BREEZY HUES
As the mercury levels rise, there’s no need to hide behind extra large shades.
Flaunt your attitude with panache and say a big `yes’ to vibrant eye shadows. Make-up guru Mickey Contractor advises, “Play with long upper and lower lashes. Opt for creamy textures, never matt.Breezy, light and balanced eye colours are best for these blistering months.”

Almost all the top fashion houses – Giorgio Armani, Coco Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Valentino -have used subtle and soft make-up palettes to showcase their summer collections this season. Says Bollywood make-up artist Charu Khurana, “Solid colours are a big no-no during summer. Anything from pink to light peach is in the suitable range. To keep things neat and trendy, use liner only on the upper lid and apply mascara too only on the upper eyelashes. You can experiment with the eyeliner though.Turquoise and violet are haute colours. Make sure you have a healthy, glowing skin to carry these summery tones.”
COLOURED MASCARA
Eyes with a dramatic aura are making a style statement too. This is where coloured mascara comes in, which can give you an instant makeover. But, how do you choose the right colour? Make-up artist Namrata Soni solves this dilemma: “For an evening do, try blue, mauve, green and grey mascara. Coloured mascaras are a rage, but get some brown liners too, so that you can downplay the colour effect. For day wear, go for coloured liners, which look bright and pleasant. Midnight blues and purple liners look fabulous on women, who want to look effortlessly chic.”
CONTRASTING HUES
If soothing colours are strongly recommended by makeup gurus along with casual wear, to compliment the evening wear, many of the international make-up gurus suggest stark contrasts. So, the idea is to flaunt nude eyes with deep and dark lip colours or tread the mysteriously smoky-eyed path with nude lips. This fact is endorsed by make-up artist Angelina Joseph: “Play with contrasting combinations, which can do wonders for your bold image. Mix and match the smoky and matt looks to your advantage and up your glam quotient.”
