Is science and technological advancement good or bad for humanity?

Fatema Miah:

We are proud of our advanced scientific forwarded century.  Our science knowledge vastly increased that while applied in the form of technology it has become productively progressive and turned into common practical features. We human being for last few decades overwhelmed into a culture of technology.

It is praise worthy matter for such advancement of success and progressive productivity that has become useful and convenient for our living. Science enhanced our knowledge and technology improved our lifestyle many different ways.

Within just more than few decades of technological advancement made in the mid to last  century we jumped up and brought vast capacity of use of technology into our lifestyle and adopted to it as a culture, that in contrary has spoilt and disabling our contemporary generation.

The contemporary generation has become lazy no doubt whatsoever.  While connecting to the wider world people are in this era using technology rather distancing and isolating from their immediate environment.  There has been concern raised in the 20th century about likely disadvantages of technology. In the late 21st century the concerns of disadvantages have been evidential.

The contemporary generation has become reliant on the technology, despite being connected to wider scopes this generation have been becoming an isolated society.  Life getting more hectic and stressful, and procession of up-to-date technological item has become must.  People are ignorant of the disadvantages and dismissive to the concern of effects.

Sir Stephen Hawking the current, modern scientist of UK, the profession of Oxford University raised his concern several times and now again stated before the BBC warned that “humanity is in danger of destroying itself in the next 100 years as we rapidly progress in the realms of science and technology.”

Hawking stated the global disaster that was expected within next thousands years are now expected sooner as within next hundred years, because of our human advancement without safety measures.   He phrased as such; “the next 100 years are our most dangerous, as we become much more advanced but without a safe haven off this planet.”

Since scientific advancement and knowledge helped to discover that future essential substance for earthy living being, do sustain on other planets such as Mars and science aroused aspiration in contemporary generation that Mars is reachable, in reality how viable is it?  We entire earth’s human being is it possible to be transferred to planet Mars to immigrate on it or to be colonised like 17th an 18th centuries’ Imperial fashion?

Through exploration science has enlightened the human knowledge and we learnt that there is potential for us earthy creatures to be emigrated to other planet and so far it is the Mars to be the next suitable planet for human to reside in. Human being envisaging the voyages to a Planet Mars.

Here Professor Stephen Hawking shading light on it, even if that is a viable possibility, he is saying “However, we will not establish self-sustaining colonies in space for at least the next hundred years, so we have to be very careful in this period.”

Professor Stephen Hawking raise concern about the effects of use of technology that is effecting the earth and has warned the damages causing can destroy us human being. He said, “We face a self-made disaster”; in 2014, he added that “artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.”

To have a colony on Mars that survived our extinction on earth would mean having the entire process repeat itself.

It would be wise if we human being can’t control our-selves surely we must limit reproduction. Should revert back and learn to be simple.  We must be less driven by greed, control out temptation of extravagant and stop fighting. Then we should accept our self- annihilation and make way for other species to live more peacefully on earth.

Reported by science correspondence; in October of last year, Hawking warned scientists at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) about the potential for the Higgs Boson “God Particle” to initiate “catastrophic vacuum decay”, in their scientific term.  It is explained as ‘the formation of a quantum bubble that expands at the speed of light and could decimate the entire universe’.

He expressed his concern holding the world’s ruling class responsible for causing destruction to the planet Earth. He expressed with an explanation as such; “over the automation of the world’s workforce coupled with capitalist greed also earned the scientist’s stern alarm. Research (CERN) about the potential for the Higgs Boson “God Particle” to initiate “catastrophic vacuum decay” — the formation of a quantum bubble that expands at the speed of light and could decimate the entire universe”.

It was reported that 2015 was the hottest year in the Historical record by the scientists’ source of information.  “The whole system is warming up, relentlessly,” said Gerald A. Meehl, a scientist at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.

As it is reported that last year 2015 was the hottest year, in the history of recording reports.  A temperature observation system was planned since 1980’s and programmed. The programmed temperature observing equipment the thermostat has been placed and continuously, since then the professionals of Global scientists’ has been closely doing an observation. Bar charts has been recorded throughout from the observation.

Professor Al Gore has been strongly claiming for years that the polar ice caps are melting at alarming rates due to man-made global warming.  BBC reported this week January 30th 2015 that the Global “Warming Killing Penguin Chicks”.

The Temperate recording Bar charts do show the temperature has been raising throughout the recording period of several decades, with very little fluctuation of up and down, overall the temperatures has been raising up and it was reported that last year 2015 was the Hottest Year.

It is reported that a large amount of emission has been accumulated over last few years that been contributing to Global warming that resulted in hottest year Last Year the year 2015. Last year 2015 was a War Year. Many Air Attacks has been taken place in the Middle East War on ISIS.

According to reports, sending emails, watching TV and talking on the mobile phones has been creating a large amount of carbon footprint estimated an amount of 49 giga-tonnes of CO2 equivalent.  Although, new cars are designed to more environmentally to reduce large number of emission by 24% last few years, USA its self has accumulated carbon footprint increase of 27 % last year.

In general usually the Aviation industries are responsible for 12% of carbon emissions. Further large number of Carbon footprint of CO2 Emission created by war-fares.  It is a recorded report Iraq war that has estimated cost of $3 trillion have generated at least 141 million metric tons of carbon dioxide CO2 emission each year from 2003 to 2007, more than additional two metric tons than usual in total of including the aviation and other greenhouse sources.

Scientists are working on emission observation and keeping us Public, responsible organisations and Governments departments informed about their observation reports.  Despite being informed and Alerted worldwide; from individuals to departments and the Governments have been acting negligence toward the cause of Global Warming by CO2 emission.

Although UK and Europe have been acting to deal with Global Warming, having talks, and seminars to educate and tackle the Climate change issue. USA as the Largest in accumulating Carbon Emission, are still laidback in taking lead of step on tackling the issue.

We, human; individuals to business sectors and the government departments need to be educated and act for reducing the carbon footprint CO2 emission for the future generations.  I wonder how to tackle the Global Warming Issue?  Here Talking about to ‘Tackle The Climate Change’ It further has caused more CO2.

To tackle the Issue of the Global Warming or the climate change the world’s leaders planned and attended the G4 summit in Paris.  About fifty thousand people from across the world travelled to Paris to attend the conference.

The climate change summit in Paris that was aimed to tackle global warming has further passed more of an estimated 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the air causing air pollution.  It was reported that “around 50,000 people including world leaders, businesses and activists are expected to travel from across the globe for the two-week conference in Paris”.

Most people attended the Paris Conference have used Planes to get to Paris Conference from as far as New Zealand, Sydney and Bermuda, USA, Japan and UK as well as from local as Europe, while others have used different sources as trains and cars. .  Fatema Miah, Solihull, uk. fatemamiah@mail.com
