Three drug peddlers held with Yaba pills in Sylhet

Police arrested three drug peddlers along with Yaba pills from Sylhet city on Wednesday evening.

The arrested are Mahbubur Rahman, 45, Azir Uddin, 30, and Russel Ahmed, 32.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Kotwali Model Police Station conducted a drive in Ambarkhana area and arrested them, said the police station officer in-charge Mohammad Ali Mahmud.

He said a total of 15,600 Yaba pills, Tk 50,000 in cash, and three mobile phone sets were seized from their possessions.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) deputy commissioner Azbahar Ali Sheikh said the arrested are the listed drug peddlers. They have been selling drugs in different areas of the city for a long time. There are several cases against them in different police stations in the city.

Another case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act in this regard, the SMP official added.
