Six times’ MP Manju defeated by former PS

Independent candidate Mohiuddin Moharaj has unofficially been elected in Pirojpur-2 constituency in the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election defeating Jatiya Party (JP) chairman Anwar Hossain Manju.

Manju got defeated in the constituency for the first time.

Returning officer concerned announced the results of all centres of the constituency on Sunday (January 7).

It shows that Mohiuddin Moharaj with ‘Eagle’ symbol bagged 94,544 votes while his nearest rival Anwar Hossain Manju with ‘Boat’ symbol received 61,996 votes.

It may be mentioned that winner Mohiuddin Moharaj is the joint general secretary of Pirojpur district Awami League and former district council chairman. Once he worked as the personal assistant (PA) of Anwar Hossain Manju.

Anwar Hossain Manju who took part in national elections from Pirojpur-2 constituency seven times earlier has got defeated for the first time. He was elected six times from the constituency earlier.
